Rino Tirikatene of the Labour Party has retained the Te Tai Tonga electorate with over 80% of the votes counted
Rino Tirikatene has over 5500 votes and is well ahead of Ngaire Button of the Māori Party who has just over 3000 votes and Dora Roimata Langsbury is just over 1900.
Labour is also well ahead in the party vote for the electorate on just under 5000 votes. We crossed live to our reporter David Jones who spoke with an elated Rino Tirikatene who will represent the rohe in Parliament again.
