The Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills says there will be more “pain” in the sector and concedes further job losses are inevitable.

Most polytechnics will need millions of dollars in extra funding to pay the bills once they are cut free from mega-institute Te Pūkenga.

The Tertiary Education Commission has told the national institute of skills and technology it did not believe it had the capability to make the necessary changes.
