Te Whare Tapere o Matariki started in 2008 when eight schools came together to celebrate Matariki under He Oranga Poutama ki Tāmaki Makaurau, through the revival of Kī-o-Rahi.
Today, over 20 schools gathered at Waitākere Stadium to play Kī-o-Rahi, and to revive many more Māori sports.
