National strategy underway to find cure for Kauri dieback

It's a disease that has been in the land for ions but only in recent years has it began wiping out forest kauri and this was the focus of a national symposium this weekend, aimed at creating a strategy and initiating practices to find a cure for kauri dieback.

While a cure is yet to be found, it is of utmost importance that practices are implemented now to change the behaviour of users of the forest who continue to spread kauri dieback.

Local iwi Te Roroa, say it is great to have input into the strategy but it is of paramount importance to have the resources needed to implement the work needed.

The time is nigh to actively prevent the demise of forest kauri.
