Three female fighters from the Boxing Alley will get into the boxing ring this weekend with one focus.
A win will put them in good stead for the nationals and a possible spot in the New Zealand squad for the world comps next year in February.
Head trainer Chris Martin says champions are made by something deep inside them.
All three fighters, Marea Motu, captain of the team, younger sister Sally Motu and team mate Deyne Te-Marino Painting-Davis all share the same passion for boxing.
Marea Motu will take on number two ranked Tania Reid, while her younger sister will take on Anataysha Paul.
Sally Motu says, “The inspiration to box came from my sister, Marea. Since I was five, I've wanted to be just like her.”
Deyne Te-Marino Painting-Davis will be chasing her third straight win when she faces Sarah Lovell.
All fighters say this weekend's event will prepare them for the nationals in two weeks' time.
