Fate has brought all four Te Arawa teams together to complete in the same pool at the National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka in July.
Iti Rearea (Rotorua Lakes High/Te Wharekura o Ngāti Rongomai), Raukura (Rotorua Girls and Boys), Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Puku and Te Rōpū Manaaki (Western Heights) have been named in Pool C.
Tutor for Raukura, Kimiora Webster who attended the announcement of the draw in Auckland on Saturday is looking forward to the competition, “Te Arawa complete against each other on a regional level now we will be on a national one.”
Pool C also features a number of strong teams from the Auckland region.
Thirty nine teams will be performing at the National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka competition three pools divide the teams with in a group of thirteen. The top three teams from each pool secures their position in the top nine finals.
The National Secondary Schools Competition is set to take place in July with in the Hawke’s Bay region.
