Te Tai Tokerau Kapa Haka Regionals 2016 - Ngā Uri o Tūteauru

Adorned with the natural resources from the three valleys of Waimā, Tāheke, and Ōtaua, Ngā Uri o Tūteauru made a great first impression as they took the stage at ASB stadium in Whāngarei today.

Established in 2009 the group bases themselves across the Ngāpuhi Marae of Pukerata, Taheke, Mahuri, Tuhirangi, Otatara and Moehau.

The group is tutored and led by Mutunga Rameka and is accompanied by female leader Phil’e Te Aroha Reihana-Ruka.

Their Haka presents a challenge to youth “Ko koutou rangatahi ma nga ratira mo apopo” which encompasses the journey and consent of the iwi before becoming a leader.
