Te Haaro o te Kaahu Kapa Haka Kura Tuarua 2016-Iti Rearea

Iti Rearea originates from the Te Arawa and is a combination of Te Wharekura o Ngāti Rongomai and Rotorua Lakes High School.

Members of this rōpū proudly represent their iwi, Ngāti Rongomai and Ngāti Pikiao.

Iti Rearea was one of 4 Te Arawa groups to perform today in pool C.

This will the the fourth time the group have qualified for a national competition since its inception in 2011.

The group have multiple tutors including Dominique Werahiko, Dallas Hawe, Piwiki Kingi and Matepo Hepi. The pouako say their aim this year was to whakatangata and whakawhenua the students, in an effort to give them a sense of belonging through their items.

The item Iti Rearea has chosen to share is their whakaeke “Mātūtakotako”, composed by Dallas Hawe, which talks about tūpuna and whakapapa links.
