Northland principal struck off teaching registry

The findings of the NZ Teachers Council report on the conduct of Louisa Mutu have been released with the principal of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Whangaroa being censured and struck off the teaching registry.

In the report's findings, Mutu admitted serious misconduct, including inappropriate Facebook conversations with a 15-year-old student, and adopting an aunt or mother-like figure instead of retaining a pupil-teacher relationship.

In a statement recently released, the school said it was relieved that this case has finally been made public and the community and parents can finally know what happened last year.
