There has been no change in the situation at Onepu Springs Road in the Bay of Plenty overnight.
The major police operation is ongoing, but no further shots have been fired.
The police's priority at this stage is to ensure the situation is carried out in a peaceful manor so that those involved are safe.
The area remains cordoned off and a large number of police staff have worked throughout the night.
Police are also working alongside the family of the gunman to provide them with updates about the operation.
Four officers were injured as a result of the siege and were taken to hospital yesterday. Two were discharged while another two are being treated in Waikato Hospital. One is in a serious but stable condition.
Police will provide an update later this morning.
