Auckland was dominated by the Armageddon Expo this long weekend, bringing together the freakish and the geekish to be celebrated by all.
Thousands of devotees turned out for the three-day event.
It's where fantasy and reality meet and for the mad-gamer, sci-fi or cosplay enthusiast, Armageddon is a dream come true.
Cosplay is one of the most popular parts of the event, where people wear costumes to become their favourite television, film, game or movie characters.
With more than 70,000 attendees and 150 exhibits, there was something for everybody; spacies, the chance to visit Batman's cave through digital gaming, and a horror maze to make you scream.
Some pay for an autograph or photo with their favourite celebrity. But lead MC Damian Reid (Te Atiawa) gets to ask them [celebrities] the hard questions.
"They all want to experience the culture,” says Reid, “all the guests get a carving from Dane Kingi and that is often remarked as the most precious thing that any of them receive at a convention worldwide.
“They get gifts all the time but they've never actually had a convention where they turn up and every single guest is given a carving from the indigenous people."
While today might be the last day of Armageddon, no doubt these characters will come out to play next week come Halloween.
