Every year thousands descend on Auckland's Waterfront in the CBD for the city's, 'Auckland Seafood Festival' where around a hundred seafood dishes are on offer.
Māori-owned company, ‘M&L food for pleasure’ are regulars at the festival and have been up and running for 14 years.
According to Linda Hohua, “The name originated from pleasurable food and when you think of pleasure, you think of things that make you happy, so whitebait, mussel fritters, creamed paua, smoked eel, freshly battered fish and scallops and stuff. I think that’s what Māori are all about, pleasure definitely.”
Linda says her company has been part of the festival since its inception in 2007. She also wants to encourage other Māori to set up small seafood businesses.
The event will be concluding tomorrow, so for all the seafood lovers, make sure you get in quick before you miss out.
