There are 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the community today and 1 death.
A woman in her 70’s passed away last night at Middlemore hospital.
Of the new community cases 13 are in Auckland, three are in the Waikato with 1 new case in both the Bay of Plenty and Lakes district.
In the Waikato 2 new cases are in Te Kuiti and are known contacts of a previous case, the third case in Hamilton is still being investigated.
The new Bay of Plenty case is in Tauranga and is a linked to a previously reported case in the same household. The lakes case is from Rotorua and authorities say investigations into its origins remain under investigation.
A new vaccine milestone is just a stone's throw away with Waitematā Māori 125 doses from reaching the 90 percent first dose target. The achievement will make it the 8th DHB to reach this milestone.

Ministry of Health Holiday Reminder
The Ministry of Health is asking everyone to still be vigilant during their holiday break. They are advising to still wear mask and to use the Covid-19 check in and to keep socially distancing.
If you are feeling any symptoms please go and get tested and make sure that you self-isolate while waiting for your result or feeling better.
The vaccine remains our Covid-19 including Omicron, Ministry of Health is asking that if you are eligible to get vaccinated which also includes people that are due the booster shot.
