Kāwhia calls community meeting

Justice will be served in the coastal town of Kāwhia, as three people appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Saturday for assaulting a police officer.

Kāwhia's community board called a meeting yesterday to discuss the matter with residents who are concerned that this is not the first local incident where a police officer has been assaulted.

Board member, Nick Tuwhangai, says the community is shocked by the attack, and will endeavour to support the officer concerned, as well as his family.
