Auckland Council has accepted a Ngāti Whātua iwi petition with over 5000 signatures attempting to stop the granting of resource consent for a landfill in Dome Valley. Prominent iwi leader Dame Naida Glavish was adamant the tribe's future generations shouldn't inherit a 'dump' that could potentially impact its Kaipara Harbour.
