Piri Weepu takes recovery time after minor stroke

Whakatōhea's Piri Weepu has suffered a minor stroke and is being given some time away from the game to get his health right. Initial thoughts had been the problem was migraine related, today the Blues confirmed Weepu had suffered a minor stroke

Piri Weepu seemed fine this week at Orākei Marae, but today the Blues have informed media of his illness.

Weepu has been given four weeks off to recovery after MRI scan's have revealed he had suffered a minor stroke.

Weepu tweeted this afternoon thanking fans for their support.

He was seen training earlier this week and has been suffering from sustained and intense headaches ever since the Blues left for South Africa at the start of this month.

Weepu was in hospital today for further tests.
