Taitokerau Networks Limited is a company that was established in response to the Government's plans to roll out ultra-fast broadband Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) to the country.
According to Haami Piripi, of Taitokerau Networks Limited, “its Māori owned and financed by a number of Northern iwi to ensure that our people won't have to pay exorbitant fees to have easy access to this technology.”
This week the Govt celebrated the completion of the build into Whangarei making it the first UFB-wired city in the country and announced a $30mil fund to assist in the establishment of Māori on the digital highway.
Haami Piripi states, “We want to take it to Waitiki and across to Te Hapua to ensure that all the Far North has coverage and that we're on the network alongside the rest of Northland.”
“The Govt has provided the finance and we must support it and work together so that everyone can benefit.”
