The Labour party's Peeni Henare has won the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate for the very first time.
His whānau and avid supporters came along to Te Mānukanuka o Hoturoa Marae here in Auckland and although they have celebrated tonight with many cheers, Henare has remained quiet and humble.
Tonight he delivered his victory speech, whilst being surrounded by his loved ones.
