The newest princess to play the lead role in Disney's animated film Moana has just been announced.
In an interview with Disney posted on You Tube, 14-year-old Auli'i Cravalho from Mililani in Hawai'i said she was thrilled when she found out she would play the pacific islands first Disney princess.
Film makers behind Disney’s Moana auditioned hundreds of talented young women throughout the pacific islands before finding the perfect candidate.
Casting director Rachel Sutton says in the You Tube interview that, "Auli’i was the very last girl that I saw on my last day of casting."
Auli’i got a final call back and had to audition via live stream in front of directors Ron Clements, John Musker and producer Osnat Shurer sitting at the Walt Disney Animation Studio in Burbank before she was told she had got the part.
Auli’I’s mother Puanani Cravalho says, "It was a blessing."
Moana is set to hit cinemas late 2016.
