Public funeral service to be held for Jerry Collins

Rugby all star Jerry Collins' body will be brought back to New Zealand from France within the next few days.

He and his wife were tragically killed in a car accident last Friday.

It has been announced that the funeral, which will be public, will take place next Wednesday, June 12, at the Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua at 10am.

Friends and relatives of Collins, including Tana Umaga and Chris Masoe, are a part of the small group who will bring his body back to New Zealand.

Collin's 4-month-year-old daughter was also involved in the accident and remains in a critical condition in a French hospital.

Since the deaths, there has been overwhelming support for Collins' family.  The Jerry Collins Memorial Fund was set up by the Derek Handley's Aera Foundation and all proceeds raised will be put into a trust for Ayla for whatever she might need in life as she grows up.

So far, a total of $33,000 has been raised.
